A Pattaya jailhouse inmate almost got an unexpected visitor after his
pregnant wife went into labor while visiting the burglary suspect.
Identified only as “Joy,” the 30-year-old woman was quickly transported
to Banglamung Hospital by Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan medics.
She had gone into labor after discovering her husband, Surachai Phongam,
35, behind bars Sept. 1 following a burglary attempt at the Long Bua
Cafe near the entrance to Pattaya Park.
Cafe owner Tanik Chuthongyu caught the Yasothorn native red-handed
hauling a television, two DVD players and speakers into the sidecar of a
motorbike. Amnart Srangdee told police he also witnessed Surachai taking
the electronics.
