Thailand and Indonesia kicked off a month of joint naval exercises
aimed at strengthening the relationship between the two countries and
mutually improving military tactical skills.
Rear Adm. Somchai Na Bangchang, commander of the Royal Thai Navy’s Frigate 1
Division, dispatched the HTMS Sukhothai and HTMS Sirirath to Indonesian
waters Sept. 3 for the Aug. 26-Sept. 30 Sea Garuda.
Run for the 17th time, the war games will see 281 Thai sailors join
exercises that aim to help Thailand and Indonesia’s armed forces cooperate
for the benefit of both countries’ population, Somchai said.
