The Pattaya Prosecutor’s Office will host a stage show and rally at the
Alangkarn Theatre Aug. 25 as part of HRH Princess Bajarakitiyabha’s campaign
against domestic violence.
Region 2 Attorney General Pornsak Thepasuwan hosted an Aug. 14 press conference
about the event, which will feature performances from local youths, celebrity
appearances, presentation of dolls to children, food and drink. The event
follows on parades, walk-runs and other events held each summer since 2010.
The event is part of UNICEF’s “Say No to Violence Against Women” campaign. HRH
Princess Bajarakitiyabha, who is worked on similar projects at the Pattaya
Prosecutor’s Office for two years, is Thailand’s honorary chairwoman.

HRH the Princess has been invited to attend. The day will
also promote the missions and results of the Department of Civil Rights
Protection and Legal Aid Office. About 3,000 people are expected to attend.
“Ninety percent of all the violence taking place in our society is from a broken
family,” Pornsak said, adding that one in three women and children in Thailand
have been victims of physical or mental domestic abuse.
“If a family is warm, the child will grow into someone with a higher chances of
success. But if the child grows up in a violent environment, he will follow that
example.”
The press conference also saw the signing of a cooperative agreement between the
Pattaya Prosecutor’s Office and the Fountain of Life Center. Under the
agreement, Pattaya will offer legal advice and education to women and help
protect children.
