Pattaya City to hold celebrations for HM the Queen’s 81st birthday

Rain didn’t dampen the people’s spirits at last year’s royal birthday celebrations for HM Queen Sirikit.

Pattaya will employ parades, candles and awards in its contribution to a national celebration of HM Queen Sirikit’s 81st birthday.
Festivities kick off with a parade starting at Royal Garden Plaza at 4.30 p.m., heading down Beach Road to Bali Hai pier. Beach Road will be closed from 4.30 to 6.30 p.m.
At 7.45 p.m. Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome will preside over the flower presentation and candle lighting ceremonies. Birthday and loyalty songs will be sung, followed by a beautiful fireworks display. The event will end at approximately 8.30pm
In Chonburi, Gov. Khomsan Ekachai will preside over the alms offering ceremony at 6:30 a.m. Aug. 12 at Phuttasihing Hall, followed by a birthday-wish signing ceremony at 8:30 a.m. in the Royal Pavilion. At 9 a.m. Khomsan will lead the cattle redemption ceremony to honor HM the Queen. Finally, that evening, Chonburi will host a flower and candle ceremony.
HM the Queen’s birthday is a national holiday, and as such, government offices and many business offices will be closed Monday, August 12 in observance of this special day. However, currency exchange booths will remain open.
