Organizers push for larger Pattaya Grand Sale discounts

Vittaya Yoondorn
With the start of the Pattaya Grand Sale just days away, organizers of the low-season tourism promotion are pushing hotel participants to offer 50 percent room discounts on weekends.

Sale coordinator Prayuth Tathum is urging the Thai Hotels Association Eastern Region to offer “buy one, get one free” promotions on weekend bookings.

At a June 21 planning meeting, sale coordinator Prayuth Tathum said he has urged the Thai Hotels Association Eastern Region to offer “buy one, get one free” promotions on weekend bookings. These would run in addition to retailer discounts of 30-50 percent.
Prayuth said the sale would also see heightened exposure from a brochure produced by Visa International and city hall that will advertise all the participating merchants. Many of the discounts this year are only available if paid on a Visa card.
Mobile-telephone provider Advanced Info Service Plc will also be advertising the sale through its outlets and network.
Supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Chonburi provincial government, the Pattaya Grand Sale has become the city’s principal tourism-promotion effort during the low season, aimed mostly at domestic Thai travelers.

More than 70 hotels will participate in this year’s sale, along with members of the Pattaya Restaurant Club, tourist attractions such as the Khao Kheow Open Zoo and Tiffany Show; and area golf courses.
The Pattaya Grand Sale offers savings of up to 60 percent on hotel rooms, 50 percent at golf courses, tourist attractions and 20 percent at restaurants. Contact the city call center at 1337 or go online to Trip2Pattaya.com to obtain a discount card.
