Her Royal Highness presents a
plaque to PSC.
William Macey
The bus arrived at the Camillian Social Centre bursting with bags of
rice which we had just purchased in Bang Chang. We were invited to have
lunch with the children and staff and, in the meantime, the rice was
unloaded, which provided the children with a new challenge, to climb to the
top of the pile. Just one magical moment amongst many others in the last
financial year culminating in April when Her Royal Highness Princess Maha
Chakri Sirindhorn honoured PSC by presenting us with a plaque to acknowledge
our support of the children at the Blind School over many years.
All this is made possible by the continued support of our existing members
for renewing their membership and to the new members who have joined this
year, so we must extend a big ‘Thank You’ to all Pattaya Sports Club
members.

During the last financial year, PSC have donated
3,206,198 baht, of which more than 900,000 baht was donated to promote sport
in the region. Badminton, table tennis, swimming, athletics, golf scheme for
caddies and others have been the beneficiaries.
The causes, as usual, were many and varied: support for those in slums,
building extensions, food supplies, school uniforms, scholarships, glasses
and bicycles are just a few of the activities this year.
Looking through the list, there were 48 different projects and many of our
long- time friends are in evidence again: Jesters, YWCA, Rotary, Fr. Ray
Foundation, Camillian Social Centre, Blind School, Pattaya Orphanage, Baan
Jing Jai and many others. But there were also some new charities that we
were introduced to which included Kate’s Project, A.T.C.C. and the Melissa
Cosgrove Foundation.
When analysing the figures we were delighted when we realised that, although
each year we receive donations from our members for distribution and in one
case a friend of PSC, this year has been exceptional for more than 800,000
baht has been donated in cash together with clothes, toys and computers,
many supplies being donated anonymously. Sufficient funds to build small
houses and a computer room for abused children. Food and supplies given, on
a regular basis, to handicapped children. Clothes, no longer required, are
quickly retrieved by both young and old who have no alternative but to wear
the same clothes for many years. Bicycles and computers being very useful
for children. In addition, many PSC golf outlets run Charity Golf days and
raise many hundreds of thousands of baht for distribution to various
charities.

The reward for PSC and the members is simple, to see the
smiles and to experience the show of appreciation from the children and
those that are less fortunate than ourselves.
26,500,000 baht has now been donated over the last 10 years and Pattaya
Sports Club will continue to support the handicapped and underprivileged
around Pattaya.
If you feel that you would like to make a donation, please contact William
