Scaredy cat forces Sattahip
rescuers to put in extra effort
Patcharapol Panrak
It took a saw, rope and lots of patience to save a scared kitten stuck
in a tree for a week, but unwilling to be rescued.
Sawang Rojthummasathan Sattahip Foundation officers were called to a house
off Chamchuri Road March 20 on reports that little “Samlee” had been crying
in a neem tree for days.
The cat, however, didn’t think much more of the rescuers than it did the dog
that chased it into the tree. It repeatedly backed off from officers until
it ran out of branch. Then a rescuer looped a leash over the feline, which
sent it into full panic mode.
The cat latched on to the branch with all four claws. Frustrated rescuers
finally hacked off the entire branch with a saw.
Almost immediately after being set free, the scaredy cat spotted another dog
and bolted from the scene.
Owner Ubol Nimnuan, 52, said Samlee went missing March 13 after her pet dog
Dang chased it. Neighbors knew the feline was in the tree, but didn’t think
it serious until the cries for food and help became very loud.
