Motorcycle-taxi driver arrested for armed rape of 10-year-old

Boonlua Chatree
Police arrested a South Pattaya motorbike-taxi driver for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl at knife-point.
Oi Wannathim, 33, was apprehended March 20 at the Kophai 94 motel on Soi Kophai where the alleged rape occurred. Police said he confessed to the crime.
Oi Wannathim, 33, has been arrested for raping a 10-year-old girl.

The arrest came after Meena O’Brien, 32, filed a complaint with police that her daughter had returned from a motorcycle-taxi ride crying and claiming a man had held her at knifepoint and then hurt her.

O’Brien said she and her daughter had been shopping in South Pattaya and taken a taxi back to their home. However, she had forgotten her mobile phone at the market and sent her daughter back on the same taxi to retrieve it.
The girl told police that Oi, however, claimed he had a flat tire and pulled into the motel’s parking lot, allegedly to fix the tire. There he pulled the knife and pushed her into the hotel room. Police said Oi told them he committed the rape because he was high on methamphetamines. Afterward, he said he simply fell asleep at the crime scene, not believing the girl would tell anyone because he’d threatened to kill her.
