The Thai Chamber of Commerce has expressed no concerns over the first MERS patient in Thailand and projected that Thai tourism will continue to grow this year.

Vice President of the Thai Chamber of Commerce Pornsin Phatcharintanakun said the first case of MERS infection in Thailand did not affect the tourism sector and voiced his confidence that this year’s tourism revenue will reach two trillion baht.

Pornsin added that Thai airlines had not yet been affected by the red flag given to Thailand by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) after the country failed the ICAO’s safety inspection. However, he said the matter might affect foreign countries’ confidence in the Thai aviation industry.
