The Consulate-General of Uzbekistan in Bangkok, together with the Fine Arts Department, has donated a 74-volume encyclopedia to the National Library of Thailand, marking a cultural exchange initiative aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding international knowledge resources.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Consulate-General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Bangkok, in coordination with Thailand’s Fine Arts Department, held a book donation ceremony at the National Library of Thailand to support cultural exchange and bilateral relations.

During the event, representatives from the consulate-general spoke about the role of books in connecting people with culture and knowledge. The ceremony also coincided with the library’s 120th anniversary, with speakers recognizing its role in preserving Thai history and serving as a key public learning resource.

As part of efforts to deepen ties, Uzbekistan donated a 74-volume encyclopedia covering its ancient civilization across several millennia. The collection presents the country’s historical and cultural legacy and will expand the library’s international resources.

Consul General Fakhriddin Sultanov and Fine Arts Department Deputy Director-General Khanittha Chotigavanit described the event as an important step in strengthening bilateral relations. They also reaffirmed their support for continued cooperation in cultural exchange and the preservation of intellectual heritage.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from both public and private sectors, including companies Sky Pacific and CENTRUMAIR, which are promoting a new Bangkok–Tashkent flight route. Sky Pacific Vice President Livio Arizzi said the route would give Thai travelers greater access to Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage, shaped by both Buddhist and Islamic influences, while also supporting tourism.

The event underscored growing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Thailand, with culture and education serving as key areas of engagement.
