BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has seized 18,678 suspected counterfeit branded products worth an estimated 20 million baht during a raid on a warehouse in Bangkok’s Wang Thonglang district, August 26.
DSI officers from the Intellectual Property Litigation Division, together with the Special Operations Division and representatives of the affected trademark owners, conducted the search under a warrant issued by the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court. The warehouse, located in Khlong Chaokhun Sing subdistrict, was allegedly being used to store and distribute products suspected of infringing registered trademarks.
Officers found large quantities of suspected counterfeit products bearing the trademarks of Harley-Davidson, Nike, Mickey Mouse, Disney and BMW. The seized goods included clothing, bags, hats and other merchandise, with a total of approximately 18,678 items.
The seized products have been taken to the DSI’s Intellectual Property Litigation Division for examination and documentation as evidence. Investigators will proceed with legal action under Thailand’s Trademark Act B.E. 2534 (1991), as amended, and other relevant laws. The operation forms part of the DSI’s ongoing efforts to combat trademark infringement and the distribution of counterfeit goods in Thailand.
