
WASHINGTON – The United States has called for an immediate ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia following escalating border clashes that have resulted in civilian casualties. A spokesperson from the U.S. State Department expressed deep concern over the widening violence and urged both nations to protect civilians and resolve the conflict peacefully.
Meanwhile, China has maintained a neutral stance, encouraging both ASEAN member states to settle the dispute through dialogue. The Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that regional stability and peaceful resolution serve the long-term interests of all parties, reiterating China’s commitment to playing a constructive role in de-escalating tensions.
The Philippines also issued a statement urging restraint and communication, emphasizing the need to prioritize civilian safety and uphold international law. The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of a peaceful, law-based resolution without aligning with either side.
Several foreign embassies have issued travel advisories in response to the crisis. The U.S. Embassy in Thailand urged its citizens near the conflict area to follow local authority guidance. The UK Foreign Office advised British nationals to exercise extreme caution, while Canada warned of unpredictable conditions along the border. Australia’s Smartraveller platform reported temporary closures and heightened risk, and Hong Kong’s alert system issued a “Yellow Alert” for both countries. (TNA)
