Tourist Police are strengthening cooperation with embassies and consulates in Pattaya to tackle illegal business activity, scam networks, and transnational crime, while improving safety reporting and law awareness among visitors.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Tourist Police are increasing coordination with embassies and consulates to improve safety in Pattaya, Chonburi province, targeting illegal business activities, scam networks, and transnational crime. Pol. Maj. Gen. Phongsiam Meekhanthong, deputy commissioner of the Tourist Police, said the action is in response to a joint meeting with representatives from diplomatic missions and foreign volunteer networks in Chonburi. The talks focused on closer coordination between authorities and international partners to address issues affecting tourism and public safety.

Participants exchanged intelligence and discussed responses to cases involving foreign nationals in key tourist areas, including nominee business operations, illegal entry, visa overstays, drug networks, and online scams impacting confidence among visitors and local communities. Officials also reviewed measures to improve reporting channels, increase awareness of Thai laws among tourists, and address traffic violations. Cases involving foreign nationals driving without valid licenses or failing to follow traffic rules continue to contribute to accident rates. The Tourist Police said coordination will continue to support safety and maintain confidence in Thailand’s tourism sector. (NNT)
