Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai has welcomed a US Congressional delegation led by Congresswoman Young Kim (R-California), Chairwoman of the US House Subcommittee on the Indo-Pacific, during their visit to Thailand. The bilateral meeting aimed to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, emphasizing cooperation with the US legislative branch in shaping foreign policy.

The discussion centered on reinforcing the long-standing alliance and comprehensive cooperation between Thailand and the US, as the two nations mark their 190th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. Priority areas for collaboration included defense, non-traditional security, economic exchanges, supply chain resilience, education, and tourism.

The Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) was also a key topic, with plans for Thailand to host the next negotiation round in Bangkok in September 2023.

Don extended an invitation to the Congressional delegation to join the recently established US-Thai Alliance Caucus, aimed at promoting cooperative efforts and addressing issues beneficial to Thai communities in the US.

Following the discussions, the US Congressional Delegation participated in a Business Roundtable organized by the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington. The roundtable facilitated exchanges between the delegation and Thai business leaders, focusing on boosting trade and investment, particularly within critical sectors like electric vehicles, semiconductors, and rare minerals.
