The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts very heavy rain in seven southern provinces from October 25–28, with thunderstorms, strong winds and rough seas also expected across parts of Thailand.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued its fourth weather warning, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across southern Thailand from October 25–28, 2026, and unsettled weather in upper Thailand from October 25–27. Continuous rainfall in the South may cause flash floods and forest runoff, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying communities. Very heavy rainfall is forecast in Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Krabi, Trang, and Satun, while heavy rain is expected in Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Ranong, Phang Nga, and Phuket.

Meanwhile, upper Thailand is expected to experience thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy rain, and isolated lightning strikes, starting in the Northeast and spreading to the North, Central region, Bangkok and surrounding provinces, and the East. A high-pressure system from China extending over upper Thailand and the South China Sea is causing these conditions, bringing easterly winds and moisture from the Gulf of Thailand. The monsoon trough across the South is also expected to intensify.

Residents are advised to exercise caution during thunderstorms and avoid open areas, large trees, and unstable billboards. In the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, waves may exceed two meters in thunderstorm areas. Mariners should navigate cautiously and avoid sailing during thunderstorms. The TMD urges the public to monitor weather updates and prepare for potential disruptions to travel and daily activities.
