Thailand’s DDPM has alerted 43 provinces to monitor risks of flash floods, landslides, and strong waves from June 28 to July 3, urging residents and tourists to follow official warnings and safety instructions.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has warned 43 provinces across Thailand to monitor possible forest runoff, flash floods, flooding, landslides, and strong waves from June 28 to July 3. DDPM Director-General Teerapat Kutchamath said the Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command has been monitoring weather and risk factors after the Thai Meteorological Department issued warnings of heavy to very heavy rain in Thailand and strong waves in the upper Andaman Sea during the same period.

The warning covers 12 northern, 12 northeastern, 11 central, and eight southern provinces at risk of forest runoff, flash floods, flooding, and landslides. Four Andaman coastal provinces—Ranong, Phang-nga, Phuket, and Krabi—are also under watch for strong waves in specified coastal districts.

The DDPM has coordinated with the 43 provinces and regional disaster prevention and mitigation centers in risk areas to closely monitor rainfall, water levels, and local weather conditions. Authorities have been instructed to issue public warnings in advance, prepare temporary shelters, and ensure immediate assistance if incidents occur.

Special attention will be given to natural tourist sites, waterfalls, caves, and coastal areas. If conditions become unsafe, authorities may restrict access, prohibit swimming, or suspend boat operations as necessary. The public is advised to follow official weather updates and comply with safety instructions. Disaster alerts are available through the THA DISASTER ALERT application. People requiring assistance may contact the DDPM Line account or the 1784 safety hotline, available 24 hours. (NNT)
