PATTAYA, Thailand – A 53-year-old Australian tourist reportedly refused to pay a 32,540-baht bill after spending 13 hours drinking at a beer bar on Soi Buakhao in Pattaya. The tourist reportedly arrived at around 8 a.m. and continued drinking until approximately 9 p.m. During the long session, he ordered drinks for staff and repeatedly rang the bar bell to buy rounds for the entire establishment, sending the bill to 32,540 baht.
The situation reportedly escalated after the tourist invited one of the staff members to continue the evening elsewhere but was turned down. He allegedly became unhappy and disputed the amount on the bill, claiming that the total was not correct and refusing to pay. Unable to resolve the dispute, the bar owner took the tourist to Pattaya City Police Station and asked officers to help mediate the dispute and verify the bill. Police are expected to examine the bill and other relevant information before determining the next steps.
