BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand steps up as host of Gastech 2026, taking place from 14–17 September 2026 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Bangkok. With over 50,000 participants from 150 countries expected, the event gives Thailand a significant opportunity to showcase its energy capabilities and infrastructure on the global stage.
The Office of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is participating with an exhibition booth to present the development of Thailand’s energy regulation under the theme “ENERGY TRANSITION DESTINATION – Thailand’s Energy Transition Destination.” The ERC views the energy transition as a journey from past energy systems, through the present, and toward future energy systems. Thailand’s destination is therefore not simply a cleaner energy system, but one that can simultaneously deliver security, affordable prices, sustainability and fair competition.
This challenge increases the importance of the regulator’s role. The energy transition requires not only technology, but also effective rules, regulatory frameworks, and oversight to support investment, competition, and innovation, while protecting consumers and ensuring adaptability. As Thailand’s energy regulator, the ERC designs rules and mechanisms to build an energy ecosystem that connects producers, businesses, investors, and consumers. Clear, transparent, and fair regulations are essential for all stakeholders to advance the energy transition in a balanced way.
At the ERC booth, visitors will find an overview of Thailand’s energy system and the Commission’s regulatory role in the electricity and natural gas sectors. The exhibit highlights natural gas and LNG infrastructure, market development, competition, and the future direction of Thailand’s energy system. Natural gas and LNG will remain important for energy security during the transition. Regulatory oversight should focus on efficiency, transparency, fair infrastructure access, and promoting competition to expand energy choices and strengthen system flexibility.
At the same time, Gastech 2026 features Strategic & Technical Conferences that broaden the discussion to emerging energy technologies. Key topics include Natural Gas & LNG, Hydrogen, AI Energy, Climate Tech, and Shipping & Marine, reflecting the integration of fuels, technology, and infrastructure in the energy transition. (NNT)
