COVID-19 vaccination for small children aged 6 months to 4 years commenced. Vaccination is voluntary, and parents are now able to take their children to get the shots at a local healthcare facility.

Public Health Minister Anutin Charn-vira-goon inspected the vaccination service for small children in Nonthaburi province. The first and second shots for this age group are delivered 4 weeks apart. The third shot is delivered 8 weeks after the second. The children receive 3 micrograms of the vaccine with each shot, which is substantially less than the adult dose of 30 micrograms. A vial of the dark-red cap type of the Pfizer vaccine is enough for 10 doses in small children.

The Department of Disease Control (DDC) noted that the first batch of 500,000 doses arrived at all hospitals nationwide on Oct 12. If there is a demand for additional vaccine doses in any locality, the respective provincial health office may request them from the DDC.
Parents, meanwhile, may call the DDC hotline number 1422 to inquire about the vaccine for small children.

According to the DDC, about 300,000 parents have expressed their intention to have their children vaccinated. Parents may take their children to the nearest public health facility offering the vaccination service. (NNT)
