BANGKOK, Thailand – The government is advancing efforts to establish Thailand as Asia’s premier film production hub by participating in the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) 2026, which will take place from March 17 to 20, 2026.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Airin Phanrit announced that the Department of Tourism, under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, will host an exhibition booth at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The main goal is to attract film and series productions from Hong Kong and Mainland China to utilize Thailand’s diverse locations and advanced infrastructure.

At the event, the Department of Tourism will showcase Thailand’s international filming capabilities, with a focus on the “Cash Rebate” incentive program, which offers up to 30% return on local spending. Officials will also share details on efficient filming permit processes, modern studio facilities, advanced equipment rentals, and skilled Thai production personnel who can support international crews. This initiative seeks to bring film and television productions from Hong Kong and Mainland China to Thailand, targeting an investment of over 1.5 billion baht.

Statistics from 2025 highlight strong interest from these markets: Chinese productions ranked third in foreign investment at 372 million baht, while Hong Kong productions ranked seventh, contributing over 302 million baht to the Thai economy. The spokesperson noted that FILMART 2026 is a key opportunity to strengthen Thailand’s regional leadership, expand production networks, and secure high-value content deals that will support long-term economic growth in the creative industries.
