BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Thai-Chinese Friendship Association have launched the “Once in a Lifetime: Bangkok–Beijing” road rally to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China. Former Deputy Prime Minister Korn Dabbaransi and TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool announced the initiative on August 29 at TAT Headquarters in Bangkok.

The rally will journey from Sanam Luang in Bangkok to Tiananmen Square in Beijing, supporting two-way tourism by encouraging Thai travelers to explore Chinese cultural destinations while attracting Chinese visitors to rediscover Thailand. The launch event featured senior Chinese officials, including the Minister-Counselor for Cultural Affairs at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, as well as representatives from BYD (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

Major Chinese media outlets, including CCTV and China Daily, will provide live broadcasts and coverage, alongside leading online platforms. Organizers anticipate reaching more than one billion viewers, boosting Thailand’s reputation as a diverse and welcoming tourism destination.

As a flagship tourism event during this “golden year” of Thai-Chinese relations, the rally is expected to help revitalize travel interest and deepen tourism cooperation, while supporting the TAT’s objectives of expanding its international reach and enhancing visitor confidence. (NNT)
