BANGKOK, Thailand – Public Health Minister Pattanapong Promphan presented the 2026 FDA Quality Awards to outstanding health-product businesses and products, with 119 awards covering food, medicines, herbal products, medical devices, cosmetics, hazardous substances and community health products. The ceremony was held at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi on September 21, with Food and Drug Administration Secretary-General Suphattra Boonsrem and senior ministry officials attending. Pattanapong said Thailand has strong potential in food, herbs, health products, medicine, healthcare services and wellness. He said a key priority is to raise Thai knowledge and products to international standards and develop them into globally competitive health products. He described the approach as “Health for Wealth”, linking health development with economic opportunities. Quality healthcare can build public confidence, while safe and standardized products and health innovations can create new value and open opportunities for investment and economic growth.
The minister said the FDA Quality Awards are more than recognition for businesses, describing them as a reflection of manufacturers’ commitment to quality, safety, standards and responsibility towards consumers. The Ministry of Public Health plans to work with businesses and other sectors to create an environment supporting consumer protection, innovation, investment and growth in the health economy. It also plans to improve regulations and reduce unnecessary procedures to help businesses develop products meeting international standards.
The ministry’s goal is to combine consumer safety with stronger business competitiveness, supporting what it describes as a vision of “safe people, growing businesses and a competitive Thailand.” The FDA Quality Awards have been presented annually since 2009 to encourage health-product businesses to maintain quality, safety and social responsibility. This year, the FDA is also focusing on strengthening domestic capabilities in medicines and medical supplies while accelerating approvals for health products, medical innovations and community herbal products for international markets. A total of 119 businesses and health products met the selection criteria for the 2026 awards across seven categories, according to the FDA. (TNA)
