PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya police have arrested two suspects in connection with the disappearance of a luxury Patek Philippe watch valued at approximately 4 million yuan (around 20 million baht) from a Chinese tourist staying at a Jomtien hotel. The watch has since been recovered and returned to its owner.
The suspects, aged 30 and 24, were arrested by investigators from Pattaya City Police Station at around 12.30am on November 8. They face charges related to receiving stolen property. The case began when Chinese tourist Mr. Wu reported on November 7 that two transgender women had taken his belongings from room 309 at Z8 Hotel on Soi Jomtien 6.
The missing items included his passport and a diamond-encrusted silver Patek Philippe, model PP5719G, which he valued at approximately 4 million yuan. The suspects allegedly demanded 20,000 baht in exchange for returning his belongings. The tourist paid the amount but received only his passport, while the luxury watch remained missing. The suspects then left the hotel.
Following an investigation, police traced the watch and recovered it, returning it to the tourist.
Both suspects denied the allegations. Police recorded their arrests and handed them over to investigators for further legal proceedings.
