BANGKOK, Thailand – The body of Thai travel YouTuber Bowornthat Pengsuk, known as Hlun Solo, will return to Thailand on Aug. 6, while Georgian authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow said the body is scheduled to arrive in Thailand at 5:15 a.m. after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with Georgian authorities to facilitate the repatriation process.
Once the body arrives, the family will decide on the next steps, with an autopsy expected to be conducted in Thailand. Sihasak said Georgian authorities are still reviewing information and verifying certain details related to the case. Hlun Solo’s personal belongings remain with Georgian officials while the investigation continues.
Thailand has asked Georgia to carry out a full investigation, but Sihasak said it is not yet the right time to disclose the cause of death as officials need to discuss the matter with the family. No official conclusion has been reached. At Hlun Solo’s hometown in Somdet District, Kalasin Province, relatives, neighbors, fans and members of the public continued arriving to offer support to the family following confirmation that his body would soon return home.
His grandmother, Buasong Pengsuk, said she was feeling stronger after receiving encouragement from people across the country. She thanked all those who had offered support and said she believed her grandson had gone peacefully. Hlun Solo’s uncle, Sompong Pengsuk, 62, said relatives and neighbors immediately began preparing a venue for the funeral after learning that the body would be returned to Thailand.
He said the preparations received support from the Somdet Subdistrict Municipality, local leaders, village officials and nearby residents. The family plans to hold three nights of Buddhist funeral rites, followed by cremation at Rangsi Chatchawan Temple. Somdet District Chief Wirat Ratchari said local authorities and residents have worked together to prepare the venue, including providing parking areas, traffic assistance and other facilities for those attending the funeral. Further details of the ceremony will be announced once arrangements are finalized.
