Thai PM assesses submarine purchase is up to House committee’s decision

Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha answered to the press about the Royal Thai Navy’s plan to purchase submarines that it is now under the deliberation of the House committee on draft FY2564 national budget scrutiny who has already been clarified on the rationale and all related criteria. The Prime Minister emphasized that any matter concerning national security enhancement is solely for the interest of the country, the people, and national resources. Submarines, to be purchased, are not for use in a combat, but for strategic purpose in accordance with the changing global situation. Submarine purchase budget is already part of the budget allocated to the Royal Thai Navy. It is up to the House committee’s decision to vote for or against.
