Deputy Prime Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow says Thailand is strengthening security measures and taking proactive steps to restore tourist confidence following the murder of two Russian siblings.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow said the Thai government was deeply shocked by the murder of two Russian tourists in Chonburi and immediately contacted the Russian Ambassador to Thailand to express profound condolences. He noted that the Prime Minister personally visited the scene to help expedite the arrests. The government has ordered proactive measures to strengthen security and restore foreign tourists’ confidence, acknowledging the incident’s impact on Thailand’s tourism image and reaffirming its firm commitment to preventing such tragedies from happening again.



The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the incident is a reminder that criminals may seize opportunities when they arise, prompting the government to step up its proactive efforts. He also emphasized that tourists should exercise caution and stay informed about safe areas.
