BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai government has completed the distribution of more than 3.31 billion baht (approx. $103 million) in relief funds to 695,945 households affected by foreign military activities along the Thai-Cambodian border, a government spokesperson said.

Airin Phanrit, deputy government spokesperson, stated that the payments followed cabinet resolutions passed in August and December 2025 to assist residents impacted by incidents involving foreign forces. The activities, which occurred in July and December last year, resulted in significant damage to private property, housing, agricultural land, and public infrastructure across seven border provinces.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) channeled the aid through the Government Savings Bank to residents in Chanthaburi, Trat, Sa Kaeo, Ubon Ratchathani, Buriram, Surin, and Si Sa Ket. According to official data, the final transfers were concluded in February 2026, with Si Sa Ket and Surin recording the highest number of assisted households.

The spokesperson emphasized that the government remains committed to protecting the lives and property of citizens while providing full compensation to alleviate financial distress. Security agencies have been ordered to closely monitor the border situation and integrate resources to ensure public safety and strictly defend national sovereignty. (TNA)
