BANGKOK, Thailand – The Cabinet has approved the draft of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue Eighth Ministerial Declaration, reaffirming Thailand’s participation in regional labor cooperation to improve the protection of Thai workers overseas. The declaration also supports fair employment, workforce skills development, and expanded access to international job opportunities. Deputy Government Spokesperson Patdarasm Thongsaluaykorn said the declaration provides a framework for improving cross-border labor migration among member countries. It promotes safe, orderly, and regular labor migration while protecting workers throughout the employment process, from pre-departure preparation and recruitment to employment abroad and their return home.
The declaration also supports skills development in digital technology, artificial intelligence, and other fields needed by emerging industries and encourages mutual recognition of professional qualifications among member countries. Thailand will also support the use of digital technology in labor administration, including international data sharing, lower recruitment costs, fair employment practices, and better protection for women, young workers, and people in emerging forms of employment.
