BANGKOK, Thailand – A taxi overturned and caught fire on Rama 9 Road early this morning, with five people narrowly escaping the blaze, Oct 5. One passenger, a woman who remained calm, kicked the door open and helped others out of the vehicle just in time. Among the survivors, the taxi driver was critically injured and is now being treated in the ICU.

The accident occurred on outbound Rama 9 Road near the Premier Intersection before the Srinakarin Junction. Officers from the Huamark Police Station, along with firefighters and rescue volunteers from the Siam Ruamjai Poo-in Foundation, quickly responded to the scene. They managed to extinguish the fire that had engulfed the overturned taxi.

The five passengers, including one child, managed to escape, though the driver suffered severe injuries and was rushed to Samitivej Hospital. Initial reports suggest that the quick-thinking female passenger kicked the door open, allowing everyone to escape. The child suffered minor injuries but was shaken by the incident.

Authorities have ruled out a gas tank explosion as the cause of the fire, stating that if that were the case, the outcome would likely have been fatal for everyone in the vehicle. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident and fire.
