BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is expanding its presence in the Mexican market with the launch of the “Thailand Special Deal” campaign in partnership with leading department store El Palacio de Hierro. The promotion coincides with the Thai Festival Mexico 2025, held August 9 and 10 at the National Center of Arts (CENART) in Mexico City, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Mexico.
The campaign targets high-spending Mexican travelers through exclusive promotions for El Palacio de Hierro customers and updates for local travel businesses on Thailand’s latest tourism products and services. Activities include training sessions for travel agents, networking with tour operators and media, and consumer-focused events showcasing Thai culture.
TAT, on August 6, provided training for 30 travel agents from Viajes Palacio and hosted a networking event with 15 tourism partners at Galanga House. The next day, the Thailand Special Deal launched at El Palacio de Hierro, drawing more than 60 top-spending customers. The department store operates 31 branches nationwide and has over 100,000 credit card members.
The Thai Festival Mexico 2025 featured Isan folk music by the Mor Lam Idol Band, a street art performance by Thai artist Teerayut Puechpen, and a craft activity where visitors decorated Mexican wrestling masks with Thai patterns, blending elements of both cultures.
Between January 1 and August 3, 2025, Thailand received 26,960 visitors from Mexico, the second-highest from Latin America after Brazil. TAT projects the campaign and festival will help attract 51,600 Mexican tourists in 2025, a 20 percent increase from last year. (NNT)
