The Election Commission of Thailand announced that seven House of Representatives candidates have been removed from the ballot following Supreme Court orders, urging voters in affected constituencies to verify updated candidate lists to avoid casting invalid ballots.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Election Commission of Thailand announced that seven House of Representatives candidates have been removed from the ballot by court order, urging voters to verify candidate lists before voting to avoid invalid ballots.

Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission Phasakorn Siriphakayaporn stated that the announcement is intended to clarify the legal process for candidate disqualification and protect voters’ rights.

Under Section 52 of the Organic Act on the Election of Members of the House of Representatives, if a constituency election director determines that a candidate lacks required qualifications or has prohibited characteristics before election day, a petition must be promptly filed with the Supreme Court to remove the candidate’s name.

The Supreme Court has issued orders removing the candidates from the official ballots. The EC advises voters in affected constituencies to check updated candidate lists before voting. Ballots cast for removed candidates will be invalid. Voters are also advised to rely on official updates from polling stations and EC channels to ensure their votes are counted correctly. (NNT)
