
BANGKOK, Thailand – The Road Safety Center has reported cumulative road accident statistics for the first six days of the New Year 2026 holiday period, recording 1,364 accidents, 1,313 injuries, and 241 fatalities.
Saharat Wongsakulwivat, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), in his capacity as Assistant Secretary of the Road Safety Center for the New Year 2026 period, announced the consolidated figures for December 30, 2025, to January 4, 2026.
According to the report, Phuket had the highest number of accidents at 50 cases and the most injuries at 53. Bangkok reported the highest fatalities with 20 deaths. Seven provinces reported zero fatalities during the six-day period.
The Road Safety Center has directed all provinces to strictly enforce traffic laws, strengthen road safety oversight, and manage traffic effectively on main and secondary routes. These measures support those still returning from the holidays.
Authorities have also been instructed to inspect and assist passengers and tourists at transport hubs nationwide, including bus terminals, airports, ports, and railway stations, to ensure safe, orderly, and convenient travel. (NNT)
