RAYONG, Thailand – A fuel station in Pluak Daeng district, Rayong province, is facing widespread damage claims after a major operational error led to motorists being supplied with the wrong type of fuel, reportedly causing around 60 vehicles to break down. The incident occurred in the evening of June 2 at a petrol station along Road 3191 in Map Yang Phon subdistrict, where staff allegedly pumped diesel into storage tanks designated for Gasohol 95. As a result, customers who filled up their vehicles experienced immediate mechanical problems, including engine stalling and, in some cases, visible smoke coming from exhaust systems. Several motorists were forced to push their vehicles back to the station after noticing the malfunction shortly after refueling.
By June 3, the station manager had reportedly acknowledged responsibility and provided contact details to affected customers. The station is coordinating with its insurance provider to handle compensation claims and arrange repairs. According to reports, the station has also been assisting with transporting damaged vehicles to nearby repair shops, where mechanics are draining contaminated fuel, refilling correct fuel types, and inspecting or replacing affected components such as injectors. Initial estimates indicate that 58 vehicles, including both cars and motorcycles, were officially registered as damaged on June 2, with additional affected owners continuing to come forward the following day. The station has stated it will work with all affected customers to ensure compensation and repairs are processed as quickly as possible. (TNA)
