MAE HONG SON, Thailand — A dramatic multi-agency rescue unfolded along a remote river route as officials raced against time to save a critically ill seven-month-old boy, successfully delivering him into the hands of doctors.
The emergency began on May 3, when medical staff at Sob Moei Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital received the infant, who showed severe symptoms including extreme fatigue, diarrhea, unresponsiveness, and abnormal vital signs. Doctors quickly determined that the child required urgent transfer to a higher-level facility.
With the area’s rugged terrain making road travel slow and difficult, authorities coordinated a river-based evacuation. Border patrol units, local health officers from Sob Moei and Mae Sam Laep, along with community leaders, organized a relay-style boat transfer—moving the infant from one pier to another across the river.
The coordinated effort ensured the child was transported swiftly and safely to Sob Moei Hospital, where he could receive urgent medical care.
Officials praised the seamless cooperation between military units, healthcare workers, and local leaders, highlighting the life-saving importance of teamwork in remote areas. (TNA)
