SATTAHIP, Thailand – Sattahip police moved to prevent trouble ahead of an online-promoted motorcycle gathering expected to draw thousands of riders to Nang Ram Beach on Sunday.
Pol. Col. Komsan Khamtunkeaw, superintendent of Sattahip Police Station, ordered traffic officers to work with Highway Police to establish checkpoints on both sides of the road leading toward the beach.
Officers inspected motorcycles for loud exhaust systems, vehicle documents, missing license plates, helmet violations and unlicensed riders. Checks also included searches for weapons and illegal drugs.
The operation followed online posts promoting a trip gathering on August 9 at Nang Ram Beach within the Sattahip Naval Base, with reports suggesting that the event could attract a very large number of motorcycles.
Meanwhile, Pol. Lt. Col. Kriangkrai Meesang, deputy superintendent of Sattahip Police Station’s investigation division, deployed investigative officers together with naval intelligence personnel to monitor information and movements linked to the gathering. Authorities said the measures were intended to prevent disorder and other incidents while maintaining safety for beachgoers and local residents. The operation drew praise from members of the public who welcomed the visible police presence ahead of the planned gathering.
