
BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over a merit-making and alms-giving ceremony in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, marking the 100-day memorial since Her Majesty’s passing.
The Prime Minister lit ceremonial candles and incense before Her Majesty’s royal portrait, observed religious rites, and presented offerings and robes to ten monks. He then joined an alms-giving ceremony with 93 monks in front of the Santi Maitree Building.
After the alms-giving, the Prime Minister, Cabinet members, spouses, and participants joined the “United in Loyalty” remembrance activity on the lawn in front of the Thai Khu Fah Building. The Prime Minister paid respect before Her Majesty’s royal portrait and delivered remarks expressing deep grief and gratitude for Her Majesty’s compassion and lifelong dedication to the Thai people.
The Prime Minister stated that the Government, Cabinet, civil servants, and the Thai people are united in honoring Her Majesty’s immeasurable grace. He noted that for over seven decades, Her Majesty fulfilled numerous royal duties for the benefit of the people, served as a source of strength and inspiration, and advanced initiatives that improved livelihoods, preserved the environment, and protected Thai arts and crafts. He affirmed the Government’s commitment to upholding Her Majesty’s aspirations with loyalty, integrity, and dedication for the nation’s benefit.
The ceremony concluded with a one-minute silent tribute in remembrance of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, followed by a final salute before her royal portrait. Approximately 900 participants attended, including Cabinet members and spouses, senior officials, and leaders representing various religious communities. (NNT)
