CHENGDU, China – Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met with four leading Chinese companies in Chengdu to promote additional investment in electric vehicles, AI infrastructure, and other emerging industries in Thailand. The Prime Minister held individual meetings with Xiaomi Corporation, Changan Automobile, InnoLight Technology, and Eoptolink Technology at the Tianfu International Convention Center on July 18, 2026.
Xiaomi recognized Thailand as a leading automotive hub and a key market in Southeast Asia. Changan chose Rayong as the site of its first overseas production base and has established an international business office and a research and development center to support Thailand’s electric vehicle industry. InnoLight, a leading producer of high-speed optical transceivers, operates its largest overseas manufacturing base and a major research center in Thailand. The company plans to expand research collaboration and increase its use of locally sourced materials and components.
Eoptolink, a producer of optical transceivers for data centers, established its first and only manufacturing base outside China in Thailand. The company employs over 8,000 people in Chonburi and Rayong and plans further investment and production expansion. The Prime Minister stated that Chinese companies are drawn to Thailand’s strategic location, infrastructure, skilled workforce, and government investment support. He assured investors that Thailand will continue to provide a supportive production base and help businesses achieve their long-term investment goals. (NNT)
