Pita can resume duties as MP right after court’s ruling in his favor

The court on Wednesday found that iTV Pcl. did not engage in or generate revenue from newspaper publishing or any media outlets. Therefore, Pita is permitted to return to the House of Representatives as the court did not order the termination of his membership.

Following the Constitutional Court’s decision not to disqualify former Move Forward Party leader Pita Limcharoen as an MP, he can now resume his duties in the parliament right away, said Arpat Sukhanan, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives.

The court on Wednesday found that iTV Pcl. did not engage in or generate revenue from newspaper publishing or any media outlets. Therefore, Pita is permitted to return to the House of Representatives as the court did not order the termination of his membership.



However, official document from the Constitutional Court is awaited at the office of the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives in accordance with the procedures.

According to the Constitutional Court’s decision, it is deemed effective upon reading of the ruling. Regarding his salary as an MP, appropriate retroactive measures will be taken, said the secretary-general.

During the parliamentary meeting at 3.30 p.m., the total number of MPS was adjusted from the previous 499 to 500, including Pita. (TNA)
