BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai feature film “A Time to Fly,” which received financial support from the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund, has been selected for screening at the 18th China Children’s Film Week in Beijing from August 7 to 9. The film is one of only four international productions chosen for this year’s festival.
Announcing the selection on August 3, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi said the selection was finalized following the prime minister’s visit to China in July. She directed the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund Office to expand cooperation in the media and film industries while creating more opportunities for Thai productions in the Chinese market. Other agencies were also tasked with compiling completed and ongoing projects into an intellectual property database to increase their commercial value and overseas reach.
The festival will feature a special exhibition of inspirational sports films for young audiences under the theme “Let Sports Heal the Mind; Let the Light of Cinema Protect the Future.” Organized by Chinese film and arts organizations, the event presents 10 films from China and overseas, including live-action and animated productions. Screenings at the China Film Museum and Beijing Youth Palace Cinema will be accompanied by filmmaker discussions and film workshops for young audiences.
Safe and Creative Media Development Fund Manager Dr. Thanakorn Srisukhsai said “A Time to Fly” will be screened on August 8. He will travel to Beijing with the Fund’s executive team and a representative from Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Communication Arts to promote other Fund-supported projects and explore business opportunities.
