BANGKOK, Thailand – The government has opened registration for solar rooftop installation companies and approved equipment until September 30, 2026, to expand safe and standardized access to clean energy nationwide. Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Persvivatana stated that the initiative supports the clean-energy transition policy of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, with Deputy Minister of Interior Polapee Suwunchwee leading the announcement of the registration program.
The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) are accepting registrations from vendors and equipment suppliers from August 3 to September 30, 2026. Applicants must meet standards set by the electricity authorities. Solar panels, inverters, and other equipment must comply with international standards, including IEC requirements and Thai Industrial Standards. The government is developing financial assistance for solar rooftop installations under the 2026 Emergency Decree, which authorizes the Ministry of Finance to borrow to address the energy crisis and support Thailand’s energy transition. The initial goal is to enable 500,000 households to install solar rooftop systems, reducing electricity costs and promoting clean energy use.
The deputy spokesperson stated that installers, engineers, technicians, and equipment must meet prescribed standards. Installed systems must be safe, efficient, and designed to last at least 20 years. MEA and PEA will jointly oversee installer qualifications, installation standards, and after-sales services nationwide.
