PATTANI, Thailand – Deputy Digital Economy and Society Minister Nan Boontida Somchai has visited the National Telecom (NT) office in Pattani province to inspect telecommunications operations and review efforts to expand network coverage across Thailand’s southern border provinces. The deputy minister noted that the region’s geography requires reliable infrastructure to ensure equal access to digital services. She reviewed NT’s readiness to expand and maintain communications networks throughout Pattani and surrounding areas.
NT, the government’s primary telecommunications provider, delivers services in areas where commercial operators have limited coverage through projects supported by the Universal Service Obligation (USO) Fund. The review covered mobile networks, high-speed broadband, public Wi-Fi, security and emergency communications systems, and services for government agencies and educational institutions. Nan directed NT to continue surveying and expanding infrastructure to eliminate communication blind spots and meet growing demand for digital services. Improved connectivity will support education, healthcare, government services, and online commerce across the southern border region. (NNT)
