Supamas Isarabhakdi ordered faster legal action as the OCPB pursues hundreds of consumer complaints against an electric vehicle manufacturer.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) is stepping up action over complaints involving an electric vehicle manufacturer after receiving 683 consumer complaints, including 234 cases that have already been accepted by its Legal Affairs and Litigation Division for legal proceedings. Officials have issued demand letters in cases with complete documentation and are reviewing newly submitted complaints by verifying evidence and other required documents before moving forward. Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi, who oversees the OCPB, recently directed officials to speed up legal proceedings and assigned adviser Pradermchai Boonchuayluea to closely monitor the cases. OCPB Secretary-General Ronnarong Phoolpipat was instructed to ensure the legal process proceeds in line with the law.

Supamas said the OCPB is prepared to file lawsuits on behalf of eligible consumers under the 1979 Consumer Protection Act, allowing them to pursue legal action without bearing the cost of filing a case. The agency is also coordinating with public prosecutors to ensure legal procedures are carried out properly. Consumers who believe they have been affected are encouraged to prepare purchase agreements, proof of payment, maintenance and repair records, documents related to damages, and other supporting evidence before filing complaints or seeking legal advice through the OCPB Hotline 1166, the OCPB Connect mobile application, the OCPB website, or Damrongdhama Centers nationwide.
