BURIRAM, Thailand – A serious road accident occurred in the city center when a foreign driver crashed a pickup truck into the rear of a stationary ambulance, causing injuries to a critical patient and multiple vehicle damage. The incident took place at a traffic light intersection in front of Chang Arena on the Buriram–Prakhon Chai road. A referral ambulance from Prakhon Chai Hospital was stopped at a red light while transporting a critically ill patient who was on a ventilator, accompanied by a relative. According to reports, a pickup truck driven by a foreign national failed to stop and violently struck the rear of the ambulance. The force of the collision caused significant damage to the emergency vehicle and triggered a chain reaction involving three other vehicles, which were also damaged in the crash.

The impact caused secondary injuries to the patient, who was already in critical condition, as well as to the accompanying relative inside the ambulance. Emergency responders quickly coordinated with Buriram Hospital to dispatch another ambulance to transfer both patients for urgent treatment.

Following the crash, the foreign driver initially remained inside the pickup truck and did not immediately exit the vehicle. Police officers at the scene reportedly spent time negotiating before the driver eventually agreed to step out and accompany authorities for questioning at the police station. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash and reviewing whether any charges will be filed in connection with the incident.
