Coastal fishermen found 10 Rohingya men were drifting in the Andaman Sea between Koh Klang and Koh Bulon islands in Langu district, Satun, at about 6am. They sent them to the Langu police station where police would check if they were illegal migrants and victims of human trafficking.

The Rohingya people said through a translator that they had been sent from the Rakhine State of Myanmar to a camp of the United Nations in Bangladesh. Then they left Bangladesh in a boat for Indonesia but the boat owner forced them to jump into the sea en route.

Later about 10 other Rohingya people were seen drifting off Koh Kluay between ThungWa and Langu districts. A naval boat was deployed to rescue them. (TNA)
