Nongprue Deputy Mayor Wanchan Saen-ngam together with officials from the social welfare and protection of the destitute departments campaigned at the Wannasin Market on Siam Country Club Road telling people not to give money to beggars and to stop human trafficking.

In a campaign to stop the influx of beggars coming into the city, Pattaya-Nongprue municipality in cooperation with Social Welfare and Human Development Ministry and the Chonburi Protection Center for the Destitute are requesting the communities to stop giving money to beggars.

During the campaign at Wannasin market on Siam Country Club Road Aug. 31, the officials stated that they were not forbidding people to be kind and generous, but that they want to create some sort of regularity in the way beggars ask for help and how they receive it.

At the same time authorities have also asked citizens to be on the lookout for any activities involving human trafficking, be they children or adults. Any one knowing of or seeing such criminal activities can inform the authorities by calling 1300.

Though this seems like a kindly gesture, Pattaya authorities want to create some sort of regularity in the way beggars ask for help and how they receive it.
