
UBON RATCHATHANI, Thailand – Deputy Minister of Interior Theerarat Samrejvanich visited Ubon Ratchathani province today (Aug 9) to assist vulnerable groups affected by unrest along the Thailand–Cambodia border, including patients, the elderly, displaced residents, and frontline officials. The Deputy Interior Minister distributed essential goods and medicines and oversaw the deployment of Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation vehicles to transport evacuees from shelters back to their hometowns.
The operation took place at the Det Udom School evacuation center and the Det Udom District Office. Theerarat directed local agencies to coordinate closely to ensure the safe and orderly return of residents, with vehicles fully prepared to meet the needs of those being transported.
Joining the effort were Interior Ministry Inspector-General Sombat Traisak, Ubon Ratchathani Deputy Governor Phop Phusompong, and Det Udom District Chief Sa-ard Wongrak, along with provincial and district office heads, local administrative leaders, subdistrict heads, and village chiefs.
Officials were instructed to properly organize the departure of residents from evacuation centers, prioritizing those most at risk, including individuals with medical conditions or mobility limitations, to ensure they received proper care during transit. (NNT)
