BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand faces another day of unsettled weather on November 7, with thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy rain and possible hail forecast across several regions, including Bangkok and surrounding areas. The Thai Meteorological Department warned residents to take precautions against dangerous weather conditions, particularly strong winds and falling objects.
At 5 p.m. on November 6, the department forecast thunderstorms across 70% of the North and Central regions, with strong winds, hail and isolated heavy rain. The Northeast faces thunderstorms across 40% of the region, while the East has a 60% chance of thunderstorms and isolated heavy rain.
Bangkok and surrounding areas also face thunderstorms across 70% of the area, accompanied by strong winds and isolated heavy rain. Residents are advised to carry umbrellas and avoid open spaces, large trees, unstable structures and unsecured advertising signs during storms.
The unsettled conditions are associated with a high-pressure system bringing cool air from China across upper Thailand and the South China Sea, while easterly winds prevail over the Gulf of Thailand, the country and the Andaman Sea. The South is expected to experience increasing rainfall from November 7–13, with heavy rain forecast across several areas and very heavy rain possible in some locations as easterly winds strengthen.
The department also warned that waves in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea could exceed two metres in areas affected by thunderstorms. Boat operators are advised to navigate carefully and avoid sailing through stormy conditions.
