Princess Sirivannavari attends 2026 Khon performance honouring Queen Sirikit’s legacy

BANGKOK, Thailand – Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya attended a private presentation of the 2026 Khon performance, Ramakien: Sida, at the Main Hall of the Thailand Cultural Center on November 4. The SUPPORT Foundation under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother organized the production.

Upon arrival, Her Royal Highness was welcomed by representatives of the SUPPORT Foundation, the Ministry of Culture, the Department of Cultural Promotion, and distinguished guests. After a foundation representative’s report and the presentation of floral tributes, the Princess viewed a traditional dance honoring Queen Sirikit, a video documenting preparations for the production, and the first two acts of Ramakien: Sida.

The production honored Queen Sirikit’s royal legacy in reviving, promoting, and preserving Khon, a treasured form of Thai classical performing arts. Her Majesty also supported traditional craftsmanship, including the creation of elaborate costumes, headdresses, masks, and ornaments, while encouraging the transfer of specialized skills to younger generations to ensure the art form’s continued preservation.

Following the performance, members of the cast and production team were presented to Her Royal Highness and received royal bouquets in recognition of their contributions to Thai cultural heritage. The 2026 production also celebrated the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty the Queen’s 48th birthday anniversary in 2026. (NNT)
