Dr. Somsak said the number of the patients who recovered and were discharged from hospitals was growing to about 20,000 per day and the management of hospital beds highly improved especially that for yellow-coded patients.

The rates of hospital bed occupancy among COVID-19 patients of all color codes fell while officials were closely monitoring the number of red-coded patients in Bangkok, according to the Department of Medical Services.

Dr. Somsak Akasilp, director-general of the department, said the number of the patients who recovered and were discharged from hospitals was growing to about 20,000 per day and the management of hospital beds highly improved especially that for yellow-coded patients.

Officials were trying to limit the number of red-coded patients at 1,000 in intensive care units in Bangkok. Otherwise, it would be difficult to help the patients of this group, he said.

The number of new daily cases in Bangkok positively dropped to about 4,000 a day. In other provinces, although their COVID-19 cases rose, local officials did not have serious problems for the treatment, Dr. Somsak said.

He also assured that home isolation measures were standard and patients under the home isolation program would be evaluated. The evaluation would begin with patients under the home isolation program with Rajavithi, Lerdsin and Nopparatrajathanee hospitals, Dr. Somsak said. (TNA)
