BANGKOK, Thailand – Defense Minister Gen Nattaphon Narkphanit has addressed the recent publication of an open letter by a Cambodian senator that referenced Thailand’s monarchy, describing the content as inappropriate. He said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already responded and managed the matter through official diplomatic channels.
Gen Nattaphon added that the Ministry of Defense does not plan to take further action at this stage, including holding discussions with Cambodia’s defense officials or notifying the ASEAN Observers Team. The issue, he noted, remains under the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The minister also said the situation is well understood by the Thai public and that additional public statements could unnecessarily draw further attention to the matter. As a result, the Ministry of Defense will refrain from making further comments. (NNT)
